Vice President U Nyan Tun, met Mr Qin Guangrong, Secretary of Yunnan Provincial Communist Party Committee (CPC), on Thursday in Kunming of Yunnan Province to discuss stability of Myanmar-China border areas.

 The 11th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit kicked off in Nanning of the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday, sources said.

Vice  President  Dr  Sai Mauk Kham urged officials to exert more effort for the success of the 25th ASEAN Summit at the meeting of the  Central  Committee  for Myanmar’s ASEAN Chairmanship and Establishment of  ASEAN  Community held  in  Nay  Pyi  Taw  on Monday.

Vice President U Nyan Tun left Nay Pyi Taw for China on Monday morning by air to attend the 11th China-ASEAN Expo and the China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit to be held in Nanning  of the People’s Republic of China.

The following is the message on the International Day of Democracy which falls on 15 September 2014 sent by President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Agga Maha Thayay Sithu, Agga Maha Thirithudhamma U Thein Sein.

 

They also discussed implementation of peace-making process, undertakings in rural development and poverty alleviation, and cooperation in drugs eradication between the two countries.

President U Thein Sein and party arrived back in Yangon at 9.20 am on Thursday  after  paying  official visits to Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Vice President Dr Sai Mauk Kham received a delegation led by Mr. Haoliang Xu, UN Assistant Secretary General, UNDP Assistant Administrator and Director Regional Bureau Asia  and  the  Pacific  at  the Credentials Hall of the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday afternoon to hold talks about resettlement of families from relief camps in Rakhine State.

 Vice  President Dr Sai Mauk Kham who was in Shan State (North) attended ceremonies to donate an ambulance to Funeral Service Association of Lashio and open a middle school and Education College and inspected upgrading of a ring road in Lashio on Tuesday.

We are holding the ceremony because we want to comply with the demands of the ethnic armed groups, reaffirm all existing agreements and undertake the tasks needed to inaugurate the peace dialogue process immediately after the signing of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement. I would like to reaffirm once more that the peace process will not end with ceasefire; we are committed to launching the political dialogue process from the foundation of ceasefires we have already achieved. I would also like to make clear again that in the current peace process the government discussed all the proposed items from the ethnic armed groups without setting any preconditions.
